Every shore sunk to a deepest ground,
every mountain vanished from the horizon.
We stand alone, left behind,
face to face in this dying world.
Our dried-out voices, quiet and meaningless,
form prayers to broken oaths.
Into hollow caverns we descend,
beneath ruptured ground and wafting sand.
From the womb of the earth into poisoned rivers.
Through the cracks of the soil into dried-out seas.
All waters conglomerate to stone
as deep veins bleed into the vault.
As all life converges into the black spheres of transfiguration
in a gaping tomb under the burning skies.
Covering the earth with all mater dissolved,
corrupted and reduced to ash.
With dying spirits and empty hearts,
we bury the sun in the infinite void.
Awaiting the all-devouring cessation
of the great circle in the impenetrable dark.

On ne frappe pas un homme à terre : c'est ce que dit la règle mais NONE a déjà prouvé qu'il ne les suivait pas et si son album éponyme retirait toute perspective de béatitude spirituelle, Life has gone on long enough, son deuxième opus, nous interdit l'accès au bonheur terrestre. La vie n'a aucune substance et la production plus distante le confirme. Le DSBM s'empare de textures sonores blues, mettant en relief une dépression urbaine. Les cris partent en fumées : ne restent que les pleurs...

I was always intrigued by this group's choice of album covers, it isn't every day that you see high quality space photos in this genre despite the rise of "cosmic" black metal. But the music blew me away, this sounds like Austere took the atmospheric spacey route. (I will assume it's a coincidence that both bands are Australian)

Some of the best cosmic black metal I've heard. Mare Cognitum continues to prove themselves to be masters of crafting a vast, celstial soundscape, and the Lovecraft-esque atmosphere present throughout Aureole's half definitely made me want to check out the rest of their discography.
